Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. Along with other cathedrals like the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum, it was constructed as a memorial to Ethiopia’s victory over Italian occupation and is a significant place of worship in Ethiopia. The “Bale Wold” (Feast of God the Son) Church, also called the Church of the Four Heavenly Creatures, is another building within the cathedral complex.

This church, which dates to the reign of Emperor Menelik II, served as the original Holy Trinity Monastery Church before the cathedral was constructed. A primary and secondary school, a monastery, the Holy Trinity Theological College, a museum, and monuments containing the remains of those who were killed in Addis Abeba by the Italians in 1937 in retaliation for an attempt on the life of the Fascist Viceroy of Italian East Africa are among the other facilities. The monument and mausoleum of the imperial government officers who were executed by the communist Derg regime are also included. The formal location of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Addis Abeba is Holy Trinity Cathedral. At Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Patriarchs of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church are installed.
