The Sad Story Of Mentally Troubled Man

The tale of Nero, the insane Roman king. Nero: Who is he? A generation after the death of Christ, Christianity had made its way to Rome in the form of an obscure branch of Judaism that was well-liked by the city’s underprivileged and impoverished residents. This religious sect’s adherents predicted the coming of a new kingdom and king. The Jewish authorities, who disapproved of the group, were suspicious of these opinions, and the Roman authorities, who saw these views as a danger to the Empire, were terrified. Rome experienced a terrible fire in the summer of 64 that burned for six days and seven nights and nearly completely destroyed the city. Emperor Nero was blamed by the populace for the destruction, who said he started the fire for his own amusement.

Nero blamed the Christians for the fire in an effort to dispel these charges and appease the populace. The emperor had a few sect members arrested, and while they were being tortured, they made accusations against others, eventually implicating the entire Christian population and making them fair game for retaliation. For the amusement of the people of Rome, numerous religious sects that could be found were rounded up and executed in the most gruesome ways. Many Romans felt sympathy for the victims despite the fact that most believed their deaths were justified because of the horrifying manner in which they were executed.
