On Easter, my mother passed away. A programme for the eve of Easter Dibekulu and Zebiba, two artists, were interviewed. Professional drummer and vocalist Dibekulu Tafesse also composes his own music.
Dibe, as he is affectionately known, was born on March 25, 1987, in Addis Abeba, and he started singing as a young child in church. He made the decision to dedicate his life to track after attending college for some time.
Dibekulu Tafesse, the former lead singer for the Jano-band, was inspired to pursue music after seeing his uncle perform with legends. He saw Araya Woldemichael, his uncle’s keyboardist and pianist, perform in the Millennium Band with Abegaz and Henok, as well as well-known performers like Aster woke up and Tilahun Gessese.
High-caliber Ethiopian musicians like Tesfaye Gebre, Girma Beyene, Tilahun Gessese, and Mohammud Ahmed, as well as John Legend, Al Green, and Marvin Gaye, also served as inspiration for him.
Teref Kassahun (Melat), Lemlem Haile Michael (Mimi), Zebiba Girma (Emuye), Eyerusalem Kelemework (Sara), and Rahel Getu (Lemlem) are members of the band Yegna in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. It is a widely used logo that aims to completely inspire girls in Ethiopia to make positive changes.
The drama, music, and talk shows challenge the way people think about women and the way girls think of themselves through plots that deal with the problems and difficult situations that girls face on a daily basis.
The majority of the issues Ethiopian women face are alternated by those five younger women through their music. Yegna, which translates to “ours” in Amharic, is aware that this is done in order to improve the USA. Girls must be given agency. The group has assembled a female band, a radio play, and a communication show to promote self-care and educate listeners by using real-world scenarios. Yegna is aware that one of Ethiopia’s best untapped resources is its female population. They need to improve the financial and social outlook of their target market by empowering as many women as they can through their words and music.
