In his remarks at the celebration honouring those who have contributed to Ethiopia’s peace efforts, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasised the importance of peace in ensuring development and prosperity. Ethiopia has learnt a lot from the two-year conflict, the prime minister said, and he advised Ethiopians to cultivate the practise of resolving conflicts via conversation rather than resorting to violence whenever a problem arises. The President stated, “Let us carve out our brighter future from our failure in the past,” and he added that forgiveness is crucial in preventing conflict and war as well as reconciliation as a means of making up for the wrongs of the past.
