Classical music describes traditional genres of music that are distinct from Traditional Folk Music and popular music created in the 20th century. It is a broad generalization about the structure and purpose of music throughout history around the world.
The term encompasses various genres outside of Western music, despite the fact that it is occasionally used as a synonym for Western classical music.
Around the world, this style of music is recognized by many various titles, many of which imply some sort of superiority (for example, in Polish, muzyka powana means “serious music” and in Korean, means “decent music”).
Classical genres are frequently categorized as such in honor of their own culture, which views them as a distinct and “sophisticated” type of art from its traditional folk.
