Food aid to Ethiopia was suspended after it was found that supplies meant for those in need were being taken. The UN’s World Food Program (WFP) said on Friday that it is pausing food assistance in order to “implement additional safeguards and controls that will guarantee humanitarian food assistance reaches targeted, vulnerable people.” The US Agency for International Development (USAID) announced that it was taking similar measures the day before after finding “a broad and coordinated campaign” stealing food aid from Ethiopian civilians during a “countrywide review.”
